Captain Hookie Mercury

My first few sketches were leaning toward the Frank Thomas design of Captain Hook. As I tried to get away from that, I realized I was just drawing Freddie Mercury of Queen. Rather than choose one direction or the other, I simply combined the two. My apologies to both Captain Hook and Freddie Mercury for seeing each of them as the other.

I took a cue from Shane and just posted the sketch. It's been a crazy busy couple of weeks, so this is what I can do this time. If I ever get color on the thing I'll replace this one.

The future Hook

What a fortuitous coincidence. I've just been working on an illustration for someone based on Captain Hook so this gives me the opportunity to see what you all think of it. The idea here is to show him as an English gentleman prior to his becoming Hook and foreshadowing what he will become in the clouds.
