Roughly 30 Minute Sketch

New Topic: 30 Minutes

The coming week's topic is simple and not very time-consuming. Actually, "not very time consuming" is the whole idea. Draw whatever you want to for 30 Minutes... and that's all. If you have time to color it in those 30 minutes - great. If not, just post your sketch or whatever you come up with in... this week's Toon Club topic: 30 minutes. Now, draw... quickly!

Summer's Lame

I liked summer when I was a kid, but now it's just hot and yard-worky.

(If you couldn't tell, I kind of ripped off Nathan's idea from last week's topic... you like that, Nathan?!)

New Topic: Summer

Here's a vague topic for the coming week: SUMMER!

Thanks to everyone who's been posting lately. Keep it up.

JAWS..."sampled"

Of course I spent the most time on the part no one can see in the final piece.

Jaws

Jaws thing

A couple of years ago I saw the guy that played Jaws in the James Bond movies at a local restaurant. This has nothing to do with that, I just wanted to draw something and slapped a little color on in it. I didn't spend enough time to make the texture overlays look the way they should, they look way too photoshoppy, but I like Guy, it had been a while so I wanted to post.

Jaws

Oh man, I've been a slacker. Here is a recent shark filled Wall Street Journal piece I did. It was for some article about the dangers of investing and inflation or something like that. I didn't read the article. Me just drawz the pictures.

New Topic Time!

Hey, thanks to Shane and Adrian for posting last week! That story may have an ending after all!

This week's topic is.... "JAWS!"

That's right, it's shark week on Toon Club.

Feedback for "Never Ending Story" goes here.

Please make it stop.

Falkor's Parents

Technically I guess Falkor was supposed to be a dragon, but he looks like a snake/flying dog mix to me. Here's the scene from the "Neverending Story" prequel when Falkor's parents met at the Nothing (which is what you call it when you don't want to do a background). Yeah, that's right - a prequel... because it's a never beginning story too.

New Topic: Neverending Story

Great stuff, gang!

This week's topic is "Neverending Story"!

Feedback for Harry Potter goes here.

Ten Points to Slytherin!!!

Well, the gossip around town is that I'm slacking. It isn't true.
The truth of the matter is that I've been THINKING about art a lot. It's pretty much like drawing, but less productive and fulfilling.
So, yeah, here's a sketch I did on Photoshop on my lunchbreak.
My wife has read all the books about twenty-four times. Me, well, I've read the first one-and-a-half books. Don't get me wrong, I love the books, but I'm an art nerd so I'm always drawing.
I've heard that Hermione falls for RON at some point...what the?!!
Ron's hair is a little longer than hers, and he likes to gulp, a lot. Oh, and with wide eyes. Ron's a likable fellow, but he's no match for Harry. Harry took on a dragon. Ron, well, he watched.

Mooney, Prongs, Wormtail & Padfoot

Yikes! I posted this in the nick of time! Here's a page from the 1978 Hogwarts yearbook.

Hagrid

Who's hairier than Harry? Hagrid! Someone must've slipped some Love Potion into Umbridge's pumpkin juice, 'cause she's blowing him kisses from her office window.

Conjuring a Patronus

Voldemort shmoldemort, right Ron?

I just realized I forgot Harry's lightening scar. Ah well. Maybe it's under the hair somewhere.

The topic was "Hairy Potter", right?

Only had time for a quickie but who can resist a bad pun.

Harry Potter

This is the cover of the final book
in the series: "Harry Potter and the
Worthless Education." It's a shame
that potential employers care so
little about the good grade you got
in "Spell Casting." Way to prepare
your students for the real world,

First Post!

Hello everyone! I finally get to post some art on Toon Club. It's a great honor. I missed the last two topics due to relocation, but I am now settled in to my new home on the West coast. Looking forward to posting more often.

The Grinch!

I did this in 2 minutes flat!....not really, more like two hours. This is a bit out of season, but I think the only thing better than Dr. Suess, is Dr. Suess and Chuck Jones! I always thought Chuck's design of the Grinch looked like he was made of terricloth.

15 minutes flat

Screw those "I do a painting a day!" people!!! I drew AND colored this in fifteen minutes flat.

I was going to make up a poem to go with it, but instead, I didn't.

I posted this just to be consistent, now I'm going to focus on creating some good drawings since I've committed to posting every week.

Once again, no color.
6/27/07...
SO, there was more than one request for a poem to go along with this beauty of a painting. Well, what kind of artist would I be if I didn't cater to the masses? (Lowly animation and illustration as they are)...well, I'd be a "Fine Artist" who, instead, caters to da masses. (Copyright Shane Lewis '07)
Here's my poem:
The angry beast rages from street B to street A,
All those houses he'll flail in a whip-snapping way,
He'll crunch down on bones for an afternoon snack,
About some he will say "I want more of that!"
So if you're in Seussville and need a good pounding,
Come over to our house and meet our pet Zounding,
He likes to play rough (in fact most never live!)
You'll be surprised at how little mercy he gives.
But our little Zounding, he's such a swell pet,
If another I find then another I'll get,
Then they can square off, as Zoundings are gay (as in happy)
But they're quite thermo-nuclear, so don't get in their way!

Stuffed Smurf

I got a Stuffed Papa Smurf for Christmas once when I was little. Luckily, I don't think it was the REAL Papa Smurf, just that it was made to LOOK like him.

Smurf-Thing!

Not really a smurf

It has been so long, I've missed you guys. I still haven't drawn on topic for a long time, but I wanted to post this.

She's a redhead, but if she were blue, she'd be a smurf.

Smurfette

Yes, another full color piece. It's not my fault Smurfs are blue.

Welp, Smurfette is an interesting creature...she would've either been the most isolated or the most inundated individual in Smurf society. I don't know if Smurf's have much of an identity since they all kind of share a name.

Anyway, I figure she had to do dishes sometime, not that she ALWAYS did the dishes in Smurfville, I think they probably divided them equally. She's an Equal Rights Smurf.

Who knows, next week I might even be able to draw an ENTIRE figure...

Hold your breath.

Nevernude Smurf

All right... so he's not a Smurf, but I tried drawing Smurfs and felt uninspired. Instead I went with my favorite Blue Man... Tobias Fünke... from Arrested Development.

When Mary holds your hand...

You might think I did a quick drawing and blurred the edges with an airbrush, yes, you might think that. However, this is a full color, complete figure of Mary, but those darn foggy London skies...
I'm not even gonna color it next time.

New Topic: Mary Poppins

Not many posts on the "I.T. Guy" topic... as we can all see. Oh well... moving on!

This week's topic is MARY POPPINS. Man, I love that movie.

Chim-Chum the I.T. Guy

Well, here's your problem...

I have nothing but praise for the heros that think inside the box so I don't have to.
