Well, it's time for another Toon Club topic. Great job last week, everyone. This week's topic comes from Dan the Man, and it is: Family Traditions.

Swamp Boat Critter

(that's Missing in Action, not Mutual Improvement Association)
I've always wanted to ride one of those swamp boats.
Sea Turtle in the Murk

I know, I know, "It's a SEA turtle" you're all thinking...
Well, he wandered into an estuary and eventually wound up in the swamp.
There's a big crocodile with his jaws wide open down in the lower-left corner, just off-frame.

Avast Ye!
It was a slow week on Toon Club... hopefully we'll get more posts for this week's topic: PIRATES.
Since the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie is now 34th in the all-time box office after just 10 days, I'm guessing most of us have had recent exposure to pirates, so hopefully we'll get a bunch of stuff this week. If you still want to post something for a previous topic, just back-date your post. Do the pirate one first, though, or you'll just keep falling further behind.
Oh yeah... this is one of Adrian's topics. That is all.

Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker

The Original Version

Hey rub-a-dub-dub, ho! three maids in a tub, And who do you think were there? The butcher, the baker, the candlestick-maker, And all of them gone to the fair.
'Apparently,' say the editors of The Oxford Dictionary of Nursery Rhymes, 'they have been found in a place where no respectable townfolk should be, watching a dubious side-show at the local fair.'"

Rub-A-Dub-Dub
Welcome to Toon Club, Rodney and Dan! It's good to have a couple of new artists aboard.
This week is Chad's turn to provide the Toon Club topic, and that topic is: The Butcher, The Baker, and The Candlestick Maker.
Three men in a tub? This could get interesting.

The Patriotic Superhero

So... Why Superman? Well, I think he's the most patriotic superhero around. The movie opened this week. Most importantly, with the world we live in today, I just think we need strong, brave individuals who believe in Truth, Justice, and the American Way. It's something we can all aspire to.
Anyway, that's my soapbox for the week. Thanks for being in the 'Club, and have a great Independence Day!

Bus Grouch

The clouds in this image are symbolic of this troubled man's life. You can't really blame him for not wanting to be around other people (which is ironically impossible when you ride a bus). You see, when he was just a lad, his sister told him that he was actually adopted, and despite that it was a joke given in the usual older-sister fashion, he never would believe anything else, despite his parents' assurances. That incident, of course, led him to the conclusion that noone wanted him, and by this he has worked out his existence. As you can see now, he takes up as much of the bench as possible to assure that a second person can't sit anywhere near him, and don't even think about trying to strike up a bus conversation.
The Happy Couple

...Still together after all these years. Originally I was thinking of drawing just a bunch of old people like Guy did, but these are the only two that made it out of the pencil, so I stuck 'em together. The old man accidentally looks a wee bit like Nebecracker from Monster House, and the old woman looks accidentally like my own Grandma (a bit).

The Grump

Introducing, the Grump! Pessimist extraordinare! Nothing tastes as it should. Every fabric scratches irritatingly. If it's raining it ought to be sunny. Sunny, and "The drought will kill us all!" His opinion is the only one that truly matters... just ask him.
Any resemblance to persons living or dead is merely coincidence.
