...There'd still be traffic.

If Monkey's Ruled the Earth...

Special thanks to Joe, who helped me brainstorm this situation. (You'll notice that I've got the disgusted monkey wearing a J-Rex t-shirt as a nod to Mr. I Peed A Little.)

Great topic!

...Not Much Would Change.

Well, maybe some things would get better? I know one thing. Monkeys would still sit on rocks.

This Week's Topic...

Those were some nice frogs. And 10 people posted last week, which is more than we've had since the week of the pirates, so thanks for the frogs, everyone. Moving on...

Our new topic for the coming week is:
"If Monkeys Ruled the World..."

So they don't?

A Sword and a Pistol By His Side

This was the only line from the song I remembered from Elementary School.

Crambo

I always wondered what this song was. It's good to have learned the lyrics and story behind it.

Proposing Was the Easy Part

Who is this Miss Mouse person that she needs the consent of a rat to marry a frog? Is this not the 21st Century?

You'll notice that Froggy is wearing an ascot, as all the good "tie" choices have already been used.

Go froggy!

Very similar in concept to everyone else. here is my quicky.

Before you get married, think about your future children

I just had to answer my own question. :)

Homage to Seth and Joe's sketches

It's been a while since i've posted. Sorry! I'll do better! Are you gonna hurt me?*

Froggy

Okay so he doesn't have a tie, but he does have a poka-dot joggin suit. This is an old painting but it's a frog and it looks like he could be going courtin'.

Froggy Went A-Courtin'

Frogs can't be too picky.

Frogs with ties? OK.

I read the poem, but then, after seeing what's been posted I thought, "Froggy in a tie? Good enough for me!"

Notice the detail in the tie contrasting the sharpness of the... explaining art is fun!

Uh-hu, Uh-hu, Uh-hu.

Frogs are so cool. They're cartoony in real-life, and they just get more fun when you make them more cartoony. I was having a blast with the frogs, so I kept going. All the entries were amazing this week, by the way. What a cool club.

On His Way

Time for the big date. In case you're wondering... it's a clip-on.

New Topic Time!

Congratulations to Peter for being the 200th poster on Toon Club! It seems like just yesterday that Toon Club only had 199 posts. Good times, good times....

This week's topic, courtesy of Mister Monster House himself, Seth, is "Froggy Went A-Courtin'!"

Happy drawing!

No! To the pain.

"I'm not quite familiar with that phrase..."

Fezzik, jog his memory.

Oh powerful Club of Toons, I humbly give you my first post. To all my senior Toon Club members I say, "Yes sir, anything you say sir." I hope to eventually underwhelm you with my talent.

What you see here is a much more agile ROUS, a real fighter (in a Michael Jackson "Beat It" kind of way), coming to the rescue of his buddy, unfortunately he was unable to help as just off camera he jumped into a fire spurt and was gobbled up by lightning sand.

Albino in Winter

It took me a good while to
get all the subtlety I wanted
in this entry. Kind of an
experiment in close values.
Of course, it's obviously a picture of the
Albino out for a walk in
a blizzard.

...What do you mean you can't
see him? If we zoom in there he is right in the center.

I'm just going to have to find myself a new giant

The Cliffs of Insanity!

I love the conversation during this scene, and it lent itself to a fun composition.

New Topic: The Princess Bride

Ever wish you knew what Kevin from "The Wonder Years" looked like as a toon? You may find out this week.

The topic is "The Princess Bride." You killed my father. Prepare to die.

(Brought to you by Joe!)

Bunch of Freaks

Left to Right: Really strong moustachioed gentleman, bearded/fat lady, Punchy's little sister/antler girl, spooky scarecrowish knife target guy.

Which One's the Freak?

I thought I'd do a crazy-looking attendee to the circus... But when I was done, she kinda looked too cute, so I threw in the World's Tallest Man... Maybe that was unnecessary, you be the judge.

The Fly

What could be freakier than a scientist who trades body parts with a fly, then goes on tour telling stupid fly jokes?
Freaky!

Sibling Rivalry

How would you feel if you couldn't get away from your brother? What if he had bad breath, or was always telling corny jokes? I'd like to think that this particular spat is over a girl they saw in the audience.

The Headless-Horse Man

What a freak! I can't look at a double-jointed pinky without feeling a little nauseous.

Octoswami

This is the Octoswami. 32nd wonder of the world. ... Give me a break, it's been a rough week.

Superfreak! Superfreak! She's Super Freaky!

Ringmasters! Why pay for medical benefits for seven circus freaks when you can get by with one? I give you Polly Purgegut, the ultimate circus freak. Here's a list of the freak categories she'll cover when sitting in your sideshow tent:

1. Strongest Woman Alive
2. Tattooed Wonder
3. Werewolf
4. Bearded Lady
5. Mermaid
6. Unicorn
7. Cyclops/Tri-Clops

And when it comes time to pay her, never fear! Polly's also a certified accountant!

Businessman's Lunch

You've seen it. A group of button-up shirts and blue tooth compatible conversations eating lunch next to the table of UPS drivers. There's a song that goes along with it. If you ever have lunch with me, and these freaks come in, you may hear it.

The Ultimate Circus Freak!

Well, I drew a different "freak" to begin with...but it sucked, so here's a different one for your delectation and delight. It's Paris Hilton...in case you didn't notice the "money wings" and bent halo.

New Topic: Circus Freaks

Step right up! Step right up! Turn your eyes to the center ring, where we are pleased to present the most amazing, most stupendous, most awe-inspiring topic!

That's right, ladies and gentlemen! The next Toon Club topic is CIRCUS FREAKS!

And the ringmaster of this topic? Shane!

Guess Who Started This One...

This is about as much as my wife and I have energy to do by the end of a day...

I guess you could call it one of our traditions.

But, I Got a Bingo...

Sadly, many of my family's traditions have gone the way of the dodo in the last few years. The most prominent of these was our traditional Christmas Eve Bingo game. Everyone brought a five dollar gift to the party. When you got a bingo, you could choose a gift or swipe one from someone else. Sometimes the game went on for quite awhile, as it didn't end until everyone got to yell, "BINGO!"

This explains a lot...

When I was a wee lad I had the tradition of running really fast and falling on my head. It probably had something to do with the size of my noggin, which was the same size then as it is now. I've just grown into it, you might say. And how, you ask, is this a family tradition? Now my kids fall on their huge craniums. I had hoped it would skip a generation, but no.

The Giant Snowman

Every winter we try to build the world's biggest snowman. Unfortunately, the last few years we haven't had enough snow... as if there will EVER be enough snow for us to build one the size we'd like to. Please excuse the background. Remember...- storyboarder. Details aren't my thing.

Sunday with the Grandparents

I felt bad that I didn't get in on the Swamp assignment. Just ran out of time. So thought I'd combine topics.
