Drop the Cookie!

Merry Christmas everybody! Hope you're having a better holiday than ole' S. Claus.

This is an older piece, but one I haven't had the opportunity to post before now. Opportunity knocked, so here it is.

Consider this my personal Christmas Card to all the Toon Clubers and those who stop by Toon Club for a visit. Merry Christmas and happy holidays! God bless us everyone!

Year End Topic

So, here's the deal, chappies. If you're done with Santa, you can move on to "New Year", our last topic of the year. If you are still working on Santa, keep on it! You have until Christmas!

Happy Holidays!

Santa's Bad Year

Call me grouchy, but it seems like when I go Christmas shopping, there are an overabundance of unruly, apparently parent-less kids running through the store, screaming and leaving a trail of destruction.

So, I got to thinking that maybe Santa's "Nice" list has been getting a little smaller each year. In fact, most elves have probably been downsized. I don't know why Santa looks so upset in this picture... I'd be happy if I got Christmas Eve off.

Santa's First Christmas

I always liked the "old school" Santa. More then the one Norman Rockwell helped Coke make famous.

10th Lord A-Leaping

I'm not sure what this has to do with Christmas. I think it makes a crappy and disturbing present for the 10th day as well, but whatever suits your fancy. Am I right?

Eleven Pipers Piping

Here's my 12 days of Christmas drawing, 11 Pipers Piping... Sorry no color!

New Topic: Santa Claus

Continuing on with the Christmas themes, this week's topic is Santa Claus.

If you've got a 12 Days post percolating, try to get it in today (Monday). It's going to be fun to see everyone's take on the Jolly Ol' Fellow!

(Or is that King Cole? I can never remember.)

The Baboon

Five Golden Rings

In the 16th century there was a samurai named Miyamoto Musashi. He wrote a book called "The Book of the Five Rings." It is one of the most read books on samurai life to date.

Anyway, I wanted to draw this samurai panda I saw on a desktop background more then I wanted to draw something Christmas-y. So here it is... the Panda Samurai Book of the Five Golden Rings.

At least it's snowing. I'm a nerd.

Three French Hens

That's right. French hens. Three of them.

Four Birds Calling

Birds with phones. Kind've makes you wonder.

I thought I'd better get something up before the deadline, so here's my sketch. I'll see what I can do about splashing some color on this soon.

Toon Club Changes

Well, as most of you have figured out by now, Toon Club has entered the "2.0" phase. You'll notice now that you can now look at posts by date, artist, or topic, which was the exciting new change I alluded to last month. We think this is going to be a positive move for Toon Club, and a big THANK YOU to Shane for doing the majority of the sorting work.

Sadly, it seems that no change comes without a price. It seems that our upgrade is preventing some members from posting. Oops. If you aren't able to upgrade your account to a Google account, as needed to now post here, please e-mail me and let me know. I'll reinvite you. Then, when blogger gets around to your account, you can merge them back together again. (I know this works.. I've done it myself.)

In the meantime, if you have something to post and can't, please email it to me with the text you'd like to go with it and I'll post it in your name.

Thank you for your patience, I think you'll all be happy with the new site once we work out some of these bugs.

Have a great day!

Adrian

New Suprise Topic: The Twelve Days of Christmas

Great work last topic everyone! Here's a new Holiday themed surprise topic:

THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS

Have fun!

The Baboon
Here's a couple of ToonClub mentions that I thought you might be interested in seeing:

Tiki Talk
Drawn!
Dave Johnson
Toys R Evil

Also, if any of you have any art relating things to shill, now would be the time to tell us! It's Christmas, after all! Maybe someone wants a J-Rex tshirt!

Sea World

This is more in concert with Shane's explanation of the origins of the mermaid. This is what the less drunk sailers reported after an encounter with the manatee, I mean mermaid. It's also what the more drunk (apparently women and children, according to my drawing) report seeing at Sea World.

Sorry I ditched TC for a while. Thought I'd check in.

Christian Mermaid (better late than never)

Since humans have become too advanced for religion it falls by the wayside - into the hands of previously pagan societies, and begins anew.

P.S. Sorry about the lousy pic, she's drawn too big to scan.

Frostina the Arctic Mermaid

In a tragic twist of fate, a young merbaby is abandoned and swept down current to the South Pole. There, she is adopted by a kindly penguin family and raised as one of their own. The only clue to her true heritage is the tiki necklace she wore as a child.

Yeah! I got the mermaid and tiki topics covered, and I got to draw more penguins! Woo hoo! I am back!

Sea Shells and D Shells

I wanted to have some mermaids framing a sign or a compass rose like you might see on an old pirate map, but this is as far as I got. It was fun though. How could mermaids not be fun to draw?

Mer-accountant

This is the side of Mermish society you don't get to see very much-- geeky mermen don't get enough exposure, so here you go.

Okay, I realize the topic is "Mermaid", but just this once I had to go against the grain. Hope you'll indulge me this time. I'll try not to let it happen again.

Pixel Mermaid

Allow me to indulge myself, I've been doing some pixel art lately, and I thought I'd show what that looks like... Really lo-res, but I kind of like the way it communicates despite its blocky edges.

What we see...

What a Mermaid sees...

Chicken of the Sea anyone?

In some of the old tales of Mermaids they aren't such nice creatures as Ariel. They were feared creatures of the sea. This is a pretty quick rendering-I would have liked to spend more time on this one but today was the last day on this topic so what you see is what you get.
