New Topic Time: Spider-Man

Greetings, true believers! It's finally time we got down to business and payed homage to our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man! So get out those pencils, pens, brushes, computers, and whatever else an adventurous artist needs to render a cool Spidey pic, and I'll see you on the flip side!

Excelsior!

Sigh... I'm a nerd.

A Three Hour Tour

They were surrounded by a sea of salty water, we were surrounded by a sea of corny programming.

Keep Looking

Man, I'm thirsty.

Too Much Water

I always thought it would be cool to flood my house and swim around in it. As I consider it now, I'm not sure that would have worked. Still worth a shot, though.

Water!

Frolicking water creatures and a pirate afloat! Hurrah!

Mer-Mischief

Updated with Textures... Very rough, I don't have the original hi-res file at work.

Dangerous Waters

I recently did this for the Wall Street Journal. I thought it was fun to do a underwater scene. Cheers.

New Topic Time!

Thanks to everyone who played along last week... Remember, you can always post on a topic you missed! Just backdate your post (or leave it be and we'll backdate it for you when the time comes.)

This week's topic is going to be...

But before I get to that, there has been some discussion about having a TOON CLUB BBQ! I think we can have it at the clubhouse of my apartments, which means we can invite everybody's families. Are you all interested in doing this, and what time frames would be good for you? Be sure to discuss it here on this post.

And now, this week's topic is.... WATER!

Now draw! Draw like the wind!

Feedback for last week and discussion for the bbq goes here.

New Topic Time

Great job last week everyone. I feel like I'm living my second childhood!

No reason to be monkeying around... I'll just get to it. This week's topic is King Kong.

Feedback for last week goes here.

Ice Cream Monster!

The first one they made was Ice Cream Monster, but it was too hard to clean off the Chocolate Syrup (Yes, it's Chocolate Syrup). So they made Cookie monster after that. Personally, I'd take Ice Cream over Cookies any day, but you can understand where the Muppeteers were coming from...

Super Grover to the Rescue!

I thought I'd combine two of my favorite characters on Sesame Street for my Toon Club Entry. Oh, who am I kidding? They're all my favorites. Super Grover always cracked me up (or was it that he always cracked up?), and Berts plans always seem to the be foiled by his roomie, Ernie, so I figured I'd marry the two ideas.

Big Bird, cut it out!

wanted to try something new.
...turns out someone already invented a similar big yellow bird.

The day that Mr. Hooper died.

This was a rather disturbing episode.

Kid's Puppet Fun Time, Alright!

We were poor growing up and never got Sesame Street. We would only get this rip-off version that, frankly, left us wanting... and very frightened.

The 13th Ladybug

"The Ladybug Picnic" was always one of my favorite segments on Sesame Street. Of course, I wasn't the 13th ladybug... waiting by the phone with my marshmallow and my racing sack. Ladybugs can be so exclusionary.

The Alligator King and His Seventh Son

The Alligator King had seven sons, according to Pixar and Children's Television Workshop veteran Bud Luckey. And yes, this video clip is 100% kid friendly.

This Week's Topic is Brought to You by the Letter T

Great drawings, other people who drew stuff! This week's topic is "Sesame Street". So get out your crayons and construction paper, kiddies!

Gone Fishin'

To the tune of Happy Tree Friends.

Bullwinkle in between episodes

You think this body comes naturally?

Bullwinkle... The Next Generation!

My mom and I used to watch Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends when I came home from school when I was little. Last Mother's day, I got her the season 2 box set of the show. This is my depiction of Bullwinkle delighting youngsters with his show, even long after his days as a star.

Rocky - the fighting squirrel

Rocket J. Squirrel Version 2.0

I was out of town most of the week, but I couldn't miss the opportunity to post on this topic.

Mr. Peabody and his boy, Sherman

The adventures of Mr. Peabody and his boy, Sherman always cracked me up. Set the WABAC machine to 800 B.C.

"No, WHAT'S A MATTA U!?!"

Apparently, at the summer reunion, Rocky has decided he's sick of living in the shadow of Bullwinkle & all of his stupid catch phrases. Or, maybe this is what happens when you give a 1 1/2 ft., 35 lb., flying squirrel too many martinis.

Rocky & Bullwinkle

I'm not sure why they're Batman and Robin... but there you go.

New Topic: Rocky & Bullwinkle

This week's topic is "Rocky & Bullwinkle," which you already knew if you read the title. I guess you could just draw one or the other if you want. That is all. Enjoy.

Keep Looking Forward!

MESSAGE FROM THE FUTURE:

In the year 3000, most members of Toon Club will be mutant/alien half-breeds as a result of great Plutonian Invasion. The entries are drawn on panda hides. (Surprisingly, the panda proved to be the MOST resilient mammal.) There is one box of Rose Art crayons that survived the meteor showers in 2035, so the Toon Clubbers share it equally. It appears the last colors left are cornflower, maize, burnt umber, and silver. Since all scanners have been outlawed, the drawings are posted by taping them to the backs of the giant cockroach overlords who rule with an iron fist. (Slower Toon Clubbers are eaten alive during this process, so there is a large turnover in membership.)

Who Says Things Will Keep Getting Better?

It's been said that "history repeats itself." A thousand years from now, our descendants may have fallen back on egyptian paint or cave drawings.
