ALMOST HEAVEN, west virginia...I mean Shane.
As I'm sitting here in the Rocky Mountain highs, this reminds me of All my memories of Back Home Again (on those country roads). We should have a Heart to heart about how you drew this. I can't Escape your talents. Come and let me look in your eyes (that you drew). It Amazes me how you captured his likeness. How'd you do it? Perhaps love? You know they say Love is the Master. It seems to have worked for you. I Daydream about being able to draw like you...but its like sunshine on my shoulders- It always seems to Eclipse me. So I guess I'd rather be a cowboy since I'll never reach your level.
I'm glad you got back from the Wild Montana skies in time to participate in this week's topic. Did you drive or take the Dreamland Express? If I were going, I'd fly away. I want to Live there but I guess he'd rather be in Colorado...possibly with his uncle Matthew. Well I'm Sorry for the long post I wrote For you. It's like a sad song. No Rhymes and Reasons, but in the grand way, its like This old guitar you drew. Holy Toledo I gotta run.

Every morning in kindergarten my teacher, Mrs. Puzey, would have us play with the wood blocks and listen to John Denver. Over and over. Every morning. EVERY MORNING! SAME SONG! It was just as bad as Chinese water torture, with the added disadvantage that you didn't do anything to deserve it.

You nailed it! This drawing emulates the same creepyness as the real John Denver. You know his real name is Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. Apparently Nathan is a big fan - great work!

Freaking brilliant, Shane!

Funny! For about 2 seconds I actually considered doing John Deutshendorf Jr., I mean John Denver-- but I'm glad you did instead because he's hysterical. He looks like he's on a Rocky Mountain High. Better that than getting high another way I suppose. This rocks!

Shane doesn't like to hear it, but I think John Denver kinda looks like Martha Stewart. Imagine this picture saying "And now I want to play a delightful little song for you. I treasure it." You'll see the similarity too.

Just so you all know... John Denver's the coolest. And thanks for your comments, everyone.

Ashlee says, "This picture fills up my senses, like a night in the forest. Like the mountains in springtime, like a walk in the rain. Like a storm in the desert, and like a sleepy blue ocean."

This is spot-on. The tiny eyes. The huge mouth. The huge glasses. The moppy hair. Excellent.

Shane, I don't think there's anything left to say that hasn't been said.
Well, if you were going for "Lord of the Rings" I think you totally missed the boat...there, something no one else said.
This drawing will live in the hearts and minds of both young and old across this nation. I learned a John Denver song on the ukelele when I was in fifth grade -- think it was something about "Leaving on a Jet Plane, don't know when I'll be back again, oh babe I hate to see you go..."
My teacher at the time, Terrance Shoemaker, played the guitar while the whole sucker-punched class sat and stupidly strummed our ukelele's in unison. I remember going home to practice and being so very, very disappointed when I heard the solo sound, aye, the hollow, cheap, twangy, noteless sound that littered the air - emmitting from that damn ukelele.
