Enjoys the Bare Necessities

I was always drawn to the Tail Spin take on Shere Kahn. The whole Lex Luthor, Dirty Rotten Scoundrel imposed over the suave tiger

I like how you made all thet details of the background work with the 'toon. I gotta work on that. I just use gradients with poorly chosen colors.

Looks great.

Chad, you definitely nailed the Talespin vibe on this one! Great work, and welcome to Toon Club!

I've always loved Shere Khan as animated by Milt Kahl. It did take me a while to accept the Tail Spin version of the Jungle Book characters (a sign of old age I suppose) but I came around eventually as my kids watched the show and enjoyed it.

Shere Khan does make a great villain in or out of a suit. Nice job.

I agree that the Milt Kahl animation was never surpassed on Tail Spin. And he didn't have nearly as much nuance or character. But what always bugged me in the film was he never seems to have a clear motive. While the character trails, movement, and acting were superb, I really didn't buy his reason for wanting to murder. In my opinion by adding the cut throat corporate executive idea and removing the whole killing children thing, it rounded him out more. So in the drawing I wanted to take the Tail Spin idea and add in more Milt.

Chad, I didn't mean my comment as criticism of your choice. It was more of a commentary on me (I've been somewhat of an animation purist)and how I've come around to accept other takes of classic characters. You are absolutely right that Shere Khan in the movie doesn't have much motivation for beign a villain other than he is a tiger and he hates man.

No offense, I just like to explain myself.
