The Grump

Introducing, the Grump! Pessimist extraordinare! Nothing tastes as it should. Every fabric scratches irritatingly. If it's raining it ought to be sunny. Sunny, and "The drought will kill us all!" His opinion is the only one that truly matters... just ask him.

Any resemblance to persons living or dead is merely coincidence.

well i know why he's so grumpy. his collar is so tight it's squeezing his whole head like a big zit. and who can be amicable under all that pressure?

Glad you caught that Jed. As if he wasn't grumpy enough, he wears too tight collars giving himself another reason to complain. Thanks Jed!

Peter, nobody I know, thankfully. Found a photo on-line and took some liberties with his expression and general features. I HOPE I don't become a Grump. I'd rather be liked. Though the Juries still out on that one! :)

Great drawing, Ken. Very proper, yet willing to smack you with a willow tree branch if you get an insolent attitude.

Sigh... I was just looking at this week's entries... I'm sure I will have all the worst qualities of these characters when I'm old. I'm warning you all now.

I love it, Ken! There's something very accurate about this drawing, because I know this guy... about twenty of him. So you've managed to capture something beyond his appearance... and that's what make him the unbearable fellow he is. Nice work.

Very well done... however, I see some caring in his eyes that may surprise us. He looks like the grump at first, but the softy underneath.

I think that's my old junior high principle! He has to have had some dissappointment of that sort that has left him angry and bitter. Well done!

I think what I like most about you guys is your insightfulness. I'm grateful that you could look at my scribblings and make sense of it. Many thanks for you generous comments and insights; each one profound.

And I think I speak for all of us when I say, Adrian, we're not worried about you. You're a good guy, and most likely will be when your old & crotchety too.

Shane, I'm sorry that you know so many Grumps! A few too many, if you don't mind my saying so. Hope that works out.

Joe, I think in every Grump there's a disappointed or misunderstood child somewhere in his past. At least that's been my experience! : )

Seth I think I've had one or two of those myself (Principles). Sorry to know I'm not alone.
